This battle with blastomycosis that Carson is facing has been hard to process, really. Aside from the very serious medical aspect of this, is the fact that just a week after we sent Carson off on this new chapter in his life, he got sick. He still feels like one of our own, but he’s now a part of you. So, naturally we asked the question, “How would this big church respond?”
Dr. Jacobson, you are in a unique position to speak into the lives of women. How will you use your voice? Will you use it to feed into negative self-talk and negative body image? Or, will you use it to inspire women to see themselves in the best possible light through positive affirmation and realistic body images?
I would have a (nighttime) dream where I was driving in a car on a busy highway. Usually, I was lost, or unsure of the way....There would always be a feeling that I was out of control. That at any moment the car I was driving would go off the road, or the cars around would hit me, or I would miss an exit or the highway would end.
Every now and then I catch a glimmer of my impact in this world. Like the sparkler I light every 4th of July; my little light shines bright, sends sparks all over the place, but quickly fizzles out as I try to prevent it from burning my hand. Then, I'm left to stare at my neighbor's fireworks and wonder why I even bothered to light my sparkler in the first place.
